Session Summary:
Brazilian Butt Lift has been the fastest growing cosmetic surgical procedure in the United
States for the last decade; however, it is also the most controversial cosmetic procedure
performed today.
A recent (July, 2023) Florida statute requires surgeons to employ intraoperative ultrasound
during the entire injection phase of surgery.
In this session, the two co-founders of the ABCS’s Patient Safety Certification campaign –
ABCS Immediate Past President, Wilbur Hah, MD and ABCS Trustee, Alton Ingram, MD – will
host a panel of seven experienced BBL surgeons who have a total of more than 50 years’
experience with this procedure.
The session will focus both on patient safety and on optimizing cosmetic outcomes, with a
particular focus on how immediately and efficiently to incorporate intraoperative
ultrasound into your practice.
Surgeons who are considering incorporating intraoperative ultrasound into their practice within the next year may also be interested in attending our Pre-Meeting Workshop on Wednesday, February 21, “Practical Use of Ultrasound for Safe BBL Surgery & More.”
Workshop attendees will ‘Learn from the Experts’ and undertake gluteal ultrasound and learn anatomic visualization on live models, as well as practice injection under ultrasound guidance using simulation modalities.
